Hi, I'm Jay.
I am a web developer based in Essex, working remotely with businesses wherever they are. I have been doing this professionally for 12 years, for builders, architects, restaurants, mechanics, property developers, and a long line of trades and independents in between.
Most people arrive without a clear brief. That is normal, and it is fine. You do not need to know what you want in web terms, only what the business needs to do better. I ask a few plain questions, work out what the site actually has to achieve, and quote one price for it before anything starts.
From there it is me the whole way. I do the design, I write the code, and I am the person you speak to when something needs changing. There is no account manager passing messages along, and no junior building what a senior sold you. That is the part a bigger studio cannot really match, because their model depends on the layer I do not have.
I will also tell you when something is not worth doing. If the cheaper package is the right one, I will say so. If a feature you have asked for will cost more than it returns, I will say that too. And I will not promise you the top spot on Google, because nobody can honestly promise that. What I can do is build the site so it is fast, works on a phone, and is set up correctly for search, then be straight with you about the rest.
Clients come back, and they send other people my way, because the work is honest and the price does not move once we have agreed it. After launch I am still reachable, and small changes in the first month are on me. That approach has kept me in work for 12 years without much advertising.
